Kimonos

Lately, I've been loving kimonos. At first, I wasn't sure how I would wear one or even if I liked this specific trend, but then I found this amazing kimono at Zara and completely fell in love. It inspired this OOTD of mine, which will come in a full blog post soon (I've been super busy so sorry for the lack of posts!).

After wearing my kimono out and getting tons of compliments, I was motivated to  incorporate it into more OOTDs and experiment with it. I've worn it around the house, out to a pool party, and out at night!

Below are some of my favorite ways to wear kimonos as well as my favorite kimonos that are available online. Follow my Polyvore to see more sets featuring kimonos :)

Prom

Dress: La Femme / Shoes: Steve Madden / Minaudière: Zara / Earrings: Macy's

So... I went to prom.

Even though prom itself was so much fun, I still really enjoyed getting dressed up. From nails to hair to makeup, I was out of the house all day while my brother could sleep in and throw on his tuxedo five minutes before. Oh well... I enjoyed being pampered! I went for gold nails and a nude/pink toe to offset my Steve Madden Stecy gold foil heels.

For makeup I went to the Clinique kiosk in Nordstrom and told them to go very minimal, but they did play up my eye makeup so my eyes popped. At the mall I also got this lovely box clutch from Zara, where I carried my touch up essentials and cellphone, my Steve Madden shoes from Nordstrom, and gold dangly earrings from Macy's. To match my earrings, my mom pulled out this pearl necklace that my Grand Per gave to me when I was a a baby.

For hair, I was inspired by this Kendall Jenner red carpet hairstyle. I was really nervous that my curls would fall out since my hair is stick straight and never curls, but my hairdresser put in some amazing product that magically made my curls stay all night!

And finally... the dress. I went to a huge prom dress store a whiles away from where I live and went in with a picture of a dress that I believed I was going to where to prom for almost a year. Unfortunately, they didn't have it in stock, so I had to search the racks. After passing over every overly bejeweled dress and trying on about ten no-goers, I finally found this amazing dress from La Femme! It's not what I pictured wearing at all, but I love it so much and am so happy that I could find accessories to go with it perfectly.

What did you guys wear to prom, or if you haven't gone yet, what would you wear?

Review: Topshop Kate Moss Collection

When I first heard about the Topshop Kate Moss collection, I was so excited. Kate Moss has been a consistent style icon for me, and Topshop is definitely my favorite high street brand at the moment.

When the collection came out, I was speechless. It's the perfect combination of festival folk style and going out glam. Unfortunately, every piece became sold out quite quickly, so I have to dream about wearing them through my Polyvore. Here are some of my favorite pieces and how I would style them!

Pajama-esque + Spring Outerwear

Romper: H&M / Jacket: ABS / Shoes: Converse

To style my pajama-esque romper from H&M, I paired it with my denim jacket and converse. I feel like I'm wearing my denim jacket almost every day - it's the perfect spring outerwear, but the only spring outerwear I have. Some things that I recently added to my shopping list because of this dilemma include a kimono, a trench coat, and a blazer.

Beaded Black

Camisole: H&M / Pants: Zara / Shoes: H&M

Camisoles are my spring staple. With the help of promo codes and sales, I was able to get two from ASOS and this one from H&M. This cami is super unique in that the front is covered in little beaded flowers! I paired it with my leather pants and H&M booties, but it can easily be dressed down as well with a denim jacket and converse.

Spring Stripes

Dress: Topshop / Shoes: Call it Spring

This is probably my favorite spring outfit that I've created so far! I got this dress at the Topshop store in SoHo in my personal shopping appointment, and I couldn't be more in love with it. It can be worn with converse or heels, and the cap sleeves can be worn up or down for school or for going out.

I also painted my nails super springy - my fingers are a pretty lilac purple and my toes are a mint green. Now that the weather is warming up, I don't have to pretend it's spring through my Polyvore sets anymore.

What's in my Bag?

Bag: Forever21
  1. Laptop - So I can blog on the go and keep up on emails and homework!
  2. Headphones - So I can listen to music while working.
  3. Journal - This is where I keep track of all my blog posts and brainstorm ideas.
  4. Wallets - I use the orange wallet, which I got from a New Orleans boutique in the French Quarter, for cards and cash and my Coach wallet as a change purse.
  5. Lip products - Babylips, EOS, Chapstick, and the Body Shop... You never know which one you will want or need!
  6. Listerine strips - To maintain fresh breath even after six cups of coffee!
Some other things that I usually bring along but are not pictured are my kindle, daily journal, and whatever book I'm reading at the moment (right now it's The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck).
